The Human Race Is Filth - Liberate EP


Welcome to the Humanity Sucks show with today: grind/crust/sludge band The Human Race is Filth or  T.H.R.I.F. Their second EP 'Liberate' was released on April 6th and was recorded in the Oblivion Studios where Pig Destroyer and Agoraphobic Nosebleed also recorded their violent walls of terrorgrind.

T.H.R.I.F. has put up a similar wall, but more crusty and stable, mainly due to the alternation between fast and sludgy slow riffs like on 'Chain Game'. This keeps the album fresh and interesting. The grunts sound sore throaty, especially in the super slow song 'Slow March' where you almost see the pharynx slowly turn reddish until there are small boils of pus that eventually snap and .....o sorry I went full goregrind mode on you there, just a sec.....ahem. The band is not so keen on the arm of the law, just take a look at the album cover (the abbreviation A.C.A.B. on the wall stands for All Cops Are Bastards). The band said the following on the lyrical content of 'Liberate':

“LIBERATE EXPRESSES OUR DISLIKE FOR THE WAY AUTHORITY TREATS ALL MINORITIES AND HOW SICK OUR US GOVERNMENT HAS BECOME AND SUPPORTS THESE ACTIVITIES. LIBERATE SPEAKS FOR THE VOICES OF MANY THAT ARE HEARD BY A FEW. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT TOLERATE FASCIST, RACIST, AND SEXIST AUTHORITY RULE AND WE ALL MUST STAND FOR THOSE WHO CAN NOT.”

Yep, in full Caps.

This EP is a must have for grindcore fanatics who love variety. Because of the speed a lot of grindcore records just pass you by in a second and T.H.R.I.F. alternates that by using a heavy sludge riff after a blast beat, which is technically difficult to do. The two band members are no amateurs, they play in other grind/doom/sludge metal bands Bittered, Police State, and Mans Plague and have played in other bands so yes, you can almost automatically assume that 'Liberate' is a fucking heavy record but guess what? It fucking is.

Derhead - Irrational I

Back in the 2000s, I read an article about Finnish black metal band …And Oceans that combined black metal and electronics. I started to look for any songs that I could download on the web (I didn’t know anything about Napster or Limewire). I found one and that was Odious and Devious. On the 28th Of August, progressive death metal band Wills Dissolve releases their second album 'Echoes' on Hypnotic Dirge Records.  Tracklist: 1. Echoes (31:36) With just one track that lasts half an hour the band from Houston, Texas takes you on a journey into the endless void of space. To name their record ' Echoes ' takes guts.
